Development Of Antiracism Song In Harmony Part 3

Hope you caught the post about the development of our #antiracism song In Harmony part 2 when I got the full musical melody together but the original idea for the lyrics fell apart. That original idea about doing a song about people getting bored at work might see the light some day but not for this song.

So I was left with the full melody but no lyrics for many years. Then one year I went down to Mexico for a vacation and when I was in my hotel room in between sightseeing, I decided to take a pen and paper to see if I could come up with anything. Sometimes things work in weird ways and in this case I had no lyrical ideas for this particular song for decades.

Then inside my Mexican hotel room within a time period of thirty minutes, about 85% of the lyrics for In Harmony came pouring out of my head and onto the paper. I finished the rest of the song’s lyrics while on the plane back home. So finally I had the full lyrics to this song and I was quite pleased with the overall topic of promoting antiracism as well as anti-discrimination.

Here’s my new video on this.

Development Of In Harmony Part 3

It was certainly a big departure from my usual lyrical themes but since these were topics that I experienced throughout my life living in Canada as a visible minority, these lyrics came from my heart and it was how I felt about the whole situation regarding racism and discrimination towards all marginalized groups of people often being taken advantage of.

The full lyrics to In Harmony as well as a deeper discussion of the meaning behind some of the lines were at a previous post about the lyrics.

I’ll get more into the recording of the song in upcoming parts about the development of In Harmony. The main webpage of the song is at the In Harmony webpage.
