Singer Profile – Janine Cubias (Chantall)
Next to Unity Power Force’s musical director Clint Cora, Janine Cubias (Chantall) is the next most active participant in our music project so far. Janine has already sang on a few different upcoming tunes to be released through Unity Power Force in the near future. Janine has the added advantage of sounding like two different singers when she sings in different ranges which really helps Unity Power Force broaden the vocal scope of our songs.
Favourite Musical Artists
Shakira, Pink, Alejandro Sanz, Mana, ABBA, Thalia, U2, Juanes, Black Symphony, Evanescence, Michael Buble, ie., an infusion of Latin American pop, ballads and rock. This really enables Janine to sing in different musical styles of songs that Unity Power Force does.
What Interested Her In This Music Project
During the pandemic Janine had to review and evaluate many friendships that she had. The pandemic made her really see what is important to her. People who have and share common interests and want to lift each other up by encouraging each others dreams. The projects at Unity Power Force fit into this nicely.
What The Experience With This Project Has Been Like So Far
Janine thinks that she’s very biased if she answers this question as she says, “It has been a lot of fun. I love singing kareoke to start and I have sang previous with Clint live at the Mississauga Amphitheater for a couple of years in a row. But singing for the purpose of recording your voice over and over…well that was definitely a different experience. I think I swore a lot during these recordings but only because I really wanted to hit the right notes and some weekends it just wasn’t happening!” Fortunately the end results in the songs Janine has participated in are spectacular.
Interesting Facts About Janine
Janine was born in Honduras but during her teens her whole family moved to Canada (she is of Mayan descent according to her ancestry DNA results). She loves taking pictures during her spare time especially of wild flowers and other subjects she’s studying. Janine is also currently learning Korean, Italian and Greek and not surprisingly she’s speaks Spanish fluently.
In addition to music, Janine is also a talented artist and jewelry designer. She has created and sold wired Jewelry under Chantall Wire Creations but these past 2 years has had her focused more on her acrylic paintings and writing. A children’s book is also under way among her many creative projects.
