Using Green Screen For Next Music Video
For our next music video shoot for our upcoming song Shoot It In The Net, we will be using a green screen effect to superimpose different interesting backgrounds behind the performers from Unity Power Force. iMovie on my Macbook has a green screen effect built in so all I needed was to get a green screen.
I thought about saving some money and checked out the local fabric shops to see if they had some cheap green fabrics I could use but it turns out that the width of their products were way too short for our purposes. So I went on Amazon and found a range of different green screens. I selected one that measures 6.5 feet across that would fit three singers from Unity Power Force at the same time for about $30.
When I got it, I had to wash and iron out as many of the wrinkles or creases that same with shipping. I got out some of the major creases but not all of them. Good thing that a quick video test proved that the remaining creases and wrinkles did not affect the green screen function on iMovie.
Shoot It In The Net
Our next song Shoot It In The Net will have three different versions of music videos; hockey, soccer and basketball. The plan is to feature real sports action footage along with fans as well as the three singers from Unity Power Force in all of these videos. I wanted to use the green screen affect to have backgrounds specific for each of these three different sports behind our singers.
So for the hockey video version, the photo below of a hockey net was taken at a local ice rink. I then used this as one of the background images behind our singers when they appear in the music video.
Our singers performed in front of the green screen that is shown in the short video clip below. This was hung in front of a huge native art blanket I have in my living room.
Once the video footage of the singers were put in iMovie along with the above photo, the green screen function produced the result shown in the top photo which is how our singers will look in one scene of our new music video. Below is another result using the green screen.
