Magnificent Views Of Matterhorn And Swiss Alps In Switzerland
I just came back from a quick week long trip to ski at Zermatt in Switzerland and was fortunate to have three blue bird clear sunny days to ski and shoot video footage there. The result was some magnificent views of the Matterhorn and the Swiss Alps there. It was my first time ever skiing in Europe.
One huge difference I noticed between Zermatt and most of the North American ski resorts I’ve been to is that the skiable terrain at Zermatt is above the tree line where in North America, it’s usually a mix of slopes cut through areas with lots of trees and areas higher up above the tree line. Here in Zermatt, everything is above the tree line resulting in wide open areas which make the skiable terrain look huge.
I was able to get a lot of video footage on the mountain top at areas that general, non-skiing tourists couldn’t access. But hopefully with my video, you will get to see these areas including the ones where I got closer to the iconic Matterhorn.
When I put all the video footage together, I decided that our song Rock’n Me which is our remake of the Steve Miller Band classic, would be a great match for this video.
Also at mid mountain was an igloo bar and two room hotel which I was able to visit inside just as it opened at 10:30 am on one of the ski days. Here’s the video I shot of this interesting structure with the music background Hope.
For a more in depth review of Zermatt as a ski destination, see my post over at my website on my first ski trip to Europe. After my stay in Zermatt, I travelled to a few other cities in Switzerland and Germany as part of my Europe trip which will be featured in the next post.
